(- Uddipana Vol1 Issue 1 Jan 2000)

Immensely pleased to present the first issue of Uddipana. I know, it’s going to hold a beautiful friendship between us and of course, we’ll discuss great many things that should help us to think and live in peaceful co-existence with nature and our fellow beings, along the way.

Life on earth was surely meant to be simple, there is nothing extraordinary happening to us, but there are enough ordinary things that should make a real difference in outlook. There are questions not answered clearly, there are  loose ends in our story lines, there are small mysteries to be solved about the universe around us, about the meaning and relevance of mundane habits picked up on the way. It is so easy to identify the gaps and problems, isn’t it? But once we have done that, it’s equally essential to ask – “Are we serious about finding solutions?”; “Are we looking for  solutions in the right direction?”; “Who can guide us?”; “Can we really work on this guidance and check what happens?”; “Will we be able to modify our lifestyles inspite of a little discomfort and mental friction?” There are traditions and values we grew up on to look up – “are we discarding them without proper understanding of their value?”

All of us seek aids to enlightenment and self- realization, yet it eludes us. We try different things, we are inspired, moved and we learn so many different techniques and try to use tools like meditation, psycho-analysis etc., and the list is endless yet small insights and intuitions get neglected in the great search. Somehow time and effort falls short, so our limited days go by in halfhearted efforts, unfinished tasks, compromised values, leading to general dissatisfaction.

Just talking about these things, reading the scriptures and debating them without genuine concern or even blindly believing and practicing is not our concern here nor do we wish, to excite the mind and pretend to make profound statements just to impress each other. Let us begin a genuine search on how to ride the waves of change and be change makers rather than lie around blaming destiny, politicians, modernization etc. Let’s catch hold of the attitude at work in the mind of the modern spiritualist and begin our search?

We invite you to look for solutions within your personal range of existence. What is life without a little challenge? Together  let us re-address the personal, spiritual and moral challenges that we face every day. Time to get out of the box my friends, let us stop drawing those incomplete pictures. Let us start with a simple check up of  everyday happenings and create fresh patterns by our thinking, to help  us complete this design. Let us recognize these aspects of ourselves through continuous self-improvement, which should come from keener awareness and sensitivity.

This messenger called Uddipana is designed to present home truths that have got lost and moved out of our conscious range for whatever reason. Nothing really can stop us from evolving new ways of getting back on track. We genuinely wish to put our hearts and minds together and untangle the complications of a bygone age and aspire to end that long estrangement with our core.

Simple transformation awaits us all in the new millennium, Uddipana the quarterly journal for spiritual researchers, has been conceived as part of Hari Om Trust’s objectives to initiate discussions on topics of spiritual interest, Prakriti and her countless wonders and also about modern environment and scientific breakthrough.

In our editorial committee, we have so far Dr B S Swami who is well known writer in Kannada and “Program Executive” at All India Radio, Bangalore and Sri Shiva Rao a gentlemen with keen interest in philanthropic activities.

This journal is also beginning of a search for people who are really interested in making spiritual progress happen and who wish to serve nature and life in return, in some humble way or the other. Those who dare to look at themselves fairly and squarely without wanting to fall into the trap of looking wise and learned, who are          committed to add value to their lives each day and share it with other ordinary  people; we welcome you to participate in our activities (like  interactive sessions, play, talks, camps, retreats etc.)Which we will  be happy to organize form time to time. If you have studied meditation under Guruji Sant Narayan Savant or wish to do so or for those  who just want to be part of our service and research team, do get in touch with us. Wishing all of you the very “Best of luck”.

Salutations to the holy feet of our beloved Guru.
